These
include toast works, A Male Poupou, Lintel carving, Beach,
Tahou, and Tapa Cloth 2006
- I
am continuing to work on further toast works.
These works are all based on my interpretation of Maori
Carvings. In particular the works are based on the panel
carvings found in Maori Meeting Houses, In Maori these
are called Poupou and show ancestral figures both male
and female and on occasions mythical creatures such
as Manaia (sea creatures) .

- To
date I have six of these works but there are
many more on the drawing board. My main source is T.
Barrow's book Maori Wood Sculpture and the carvings
held at the Te Papa museum in Wellington.
- The
most famous New Zealander at the moment is
Peter Jackson, the film director of
The Lord of The Rings. I am working
on a Toast Portrait that
will measure 2.4m x 2.4m and use almost 4000 slices
of cocktail toast.

This toast portrait when completed,
will be on permanent display in Wellington. This location
is a secret until the unveiling.

I
have just completed large toast image of a bottle of beer,
my beer in fact. Done in cocktail toast and slices of
normal toast, it measures three metres high. The work
was primary to promote Bennetts
Wellington Lager, at the annual beer competition BrewNZ.
The
most interesting aspect is that used a printing company,
Mesh Digital of Wellington, to print the image of the
label onto the slices of toast. This is the first time
that this has been done. I now see a number of possible
where I can use this process in the future to create further
Toast Art.
